You ask me WHETHER THEY SLEEP

Yesterday we talked about adrenaline. About how it begins to subside after a week or two, and the body fully calms down only after a month or even more.

For three years now I have been witnessing how they sleep. Sometimes it seems like they could fall asleep anywhere, as long as there is somewhere to rest their head. Or something to rest their head on. Earlier I said that they would sleep under any conditions, if it's at least somewhat dry and nothing is raining on their heads. But reality is also, that they might fall asleep under snow or rain – so exhausted are they.

And they do sleep. Anywhere. Anyhow. Under any conditions. They sleep as much as they can at any given moment. They sleep because they know that very soon, they may not know how long they'll have to go without sleep. For days at a time. Entire days at a time.

And yet. That sleep of theirs does not restore. No matter if they've slept eight hours or more. Or even a full day. It is a hare's sleep. Sleep that releases no tension and restores no mind. For many this is now the fourth year of such sleep.

Summer arrived suddenly.
