I am often asked how soldiers react. Especially - the front lines.

How they respond to good things. To American decisions, to European ones. What are they thinking. The way they feel. Did he enjoy it. How they feel about this. Whether it motivates them or annoys them.

You often want to know the emotions he takes when the enemy kills their helpless children, woman. You want to know, you want to watch.

THERE WILL BE NO EMOTIONS.

At least as you imagine them, as you want them to be. They’re in another dimension, where time moves differently and decisions are calculated differently. Crying silently, no one is watching. Where you are welcomed into darkness, into silence in solitude.

And then... he pulls his vest back on, military shoes on. he takes up guns in his hands. And into the night they goes.
